What Motivates You?

What is motivation? Motivation is the act or process of giving someone a reason for doing something. I wanted to take a look inside people's brains to see what gets them up each day. I wanted to know what it was that pushed them to keep going forward and not slack off. Granted everyone has their days, but I really wanted to know what it was that made students get up and go to class and give it their all. I decided to ask a couple of students what was it that motivated them. People have different reasons to be motivated, and I wanted to understand why. There are a lot of young adults in today's society who don't have the motivation or the inspiration like they should to do their best or to keep going forward. I would like for them to see that there are other things to do your best for, even if it is doing it for you, your family or for a higher power you believe in.

An anonymous person wrote: "True motivation comes from within. No one can hand it to you, but no one can take it away, either." I believe that this is true. You can have something that motivates you, but you have to get up and go do it is what ever it is that you need to do for whatever or whoever motivates you. You will always have that motivation regardless because it is in you but it is up to you to know your full potential and bring it out.

http://www.motivation.com/ is a website that helps with motivation by posting photos and quotes from people to help to be inspired and also get motivated to do whatever it is that they need to do. They also have inspiring quotes from other celebrities and tips to not only keep you motivated but help you stay motivated.

http://richardstep.com/self-motivation-quiz-test/ is also another great website to help with motivation in your career and life. The website allows you to take a personality quiz to see what areas you need help and motivation in the most and help you gain direction in your life.

Winthrop Student, Shardea Johnson, sophomore answered the question "What motivates you?" She answered: My family motivates me, I just want to make them proud, and make them feel like they are getting what they payed for, I just want to make them proud.... and have them brag about me (laughs)"  Much like other Winthrop students parents, they want their kids to succeed in school and become proud of them. Ayn Rand once said: "A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others." which is is the best motivation there is!

When asking random students what motivated them the most these are the answer that occurred the most. "myself" and "God" were the most given responses.

Check out the video of me asking students what motivates the behind the scenes bloopers of them answering the question HERE!
